Fantasia....FOR REAL??

Ok....let me start by giving Tasia props....I'm proud of her for being able to bounce back from what seemed to be a dark time in her career. Fanny's back, with a new album in the works, a new Broadway stint, and a new reality show on Vh1.

I was initially very much afraid of what this show would entail. I can almost guarantee that I'm not the only African American tired of being portrayed as "ghetto" or "uneducated" in the mainstream media. While many of the scenes on her show proved to be just that, many of the others shed a decent light on Fantasia and her family.

What I liked: I'm proud of Fantasia for working as hard as she does to stay relevant. Fanny has accomplished so much in the six years that she has been on the scene, and has brought a lot of attention to the Triad area. Although she was the center of many horrible rumors (including a foreclosure scandal) she has only used this as her motivation to "keep on keepin' on". I have much respect for Fantasia.

What was a HOT MESS: Teeny. Enough said. This is Fantasia's 28 year old brother who does nothing but MOOCH off of Fantasia in the WORST way. This dude has no degree, no job, and shows no interest in getting either. While Teeny claims that he's too focused on his music, he is not bringing in any income. On top of all that, this guy (I refuse to call him a man) has TWO cars and NO drivers' license! And instead of getting up and looking for a job, this dude calls up one of his chicks to come with him to test drive a FERRARI. Are you kidding me?? You have NO job. Where do you think you're getting the money for a Ferrari? Fantasia? Ummm NO. And to make matters even worse, this man calls himself turning HER poolhouse into a studio, knocking out walls and ripping up her floors while she is gone.

Whew! With all that being said, Fantasia For Real proved to be quite comical. Whether you hate her or love her, you will find yourself on the edge of your seat waiting for the next episode.

What's with all the hype??

So... I'm not known for jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to the latest "fad". Had my boyfriend never suggested it, I probably would have never seen Avatar in theaters. I would have read all the blogs, seen all the news stories, ignored the fact that Avatar has been a trending topic on Twitter on and off for about three weeks now, and dismissed the opinions of my friends, family members, and strangers alike; All because I refuse to hop on a bandwagon.

Luckily, I did get the chance to see it, and I must say that this movie is not only AMAZING, but may be the best of the decade.

So apparently James Cameron, writer and director of the movie, also wrote and directed many popular movies, including Titanic and the Terminator. What intrigued me the most about the production of this movie was the fact that it took over ten years to complete. Cameron originally planned to film this movie after Titanic's 1997 release, but decided to wait until the technology that he needed to bring this film to life was advanced enough. The film was well worth the wait. This sci-fi/love/comedy/action film was the first 3D film I saw in theaters, and has definitely set the bar pretty high for any 3D movie set to release any time in the near future.

I won't spoil the film for anyone who dare admit that they haven't seen it, but I will say that the movie is even better the second time around. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana portray main characters "Jake Sully" and "Neytiri". The 3D quality, mixed with the amazing acting, makes you feel as if you are there with them, not just startled by things flying past you.

If you have not "hopped on the bandwagon" and seen this movie, feel free to give in and satisfy your curiosity. I assure you,it is well worth the hype.

Just getting started!

Welcome! Let me start by saying that I am completely new to this "blogging" thing, so BARE WITH ME! I wasn't going to create one at first, but here I am....so enjoy! I will try to post as often as my schedule will allow, so look out.
